A product liability claim arises when a defective product causes injury to a person or property. There are three main categories designated for defective products that may result in product liability claims:

Design Defects – flaws in the item’s design

Manufacturing Defects – specific defects which occur during the manufacture of the product

Defects in Marketing - improper instructions or a failure to explain dangers in the product.
