Christy Gallardo began working for Zoll, Kranz and Borgess in November 1996 as a part time filing clerk and in May 1997, she moved up to the full time position of Legal Assistant. In December 1999, she also took over the firm’s bookkeeping responsibilities. In 2001, after she received her Administrative Legal Assistant degree from Monroe County Community College she began implementing the paralegal skills she acquired while in school such as preparing complaints and interrogatories and was officially given the title of Paralegal in August 2002.

Christy’s position at Zoll and Kranz involves management and analysis of medical records, litigation preparation including trial notebooks, jury instructions, exhibits, and related technology issues, document management in complex litigation, preparation of complaints, interrogatories and other various pleadings, and monitoring deadlines. She has also played a key role in the noise abatement airport cases that the office handles and has become very knowledgeable and well versed in the bid process of municipalities as a result.

Together Christy and Susan are the driving force behind arranging and scheduling Focus Groups for our larger cases. In a focus group, we gather a small group of people interested in reviewing an existing lawsuit. Then along with the attorneys, we prepare a mock trial and ask the members of the focus group for their opinions about the case, tactical approaches, and facts. Within a few short weeks, they can have the Focus Group organized.

Christy is well versed in the use of ProLaw, which is a software program that manages our client files, Westlaw and other Internet legal research sources, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel and our accounting software, People’s Choice.

As part of her position at Zoll, Kranz and Borgess, Christy is required to regularly update her education and legal skills.

Christy is an associate member of the Paralegal Association of Northwest Ohio (PANO). PANO’s purpose is to provide a network for local paralegals to share information concerning areas of practice. She is also a member of National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). NALA’s purpose is to improve the quality and effectiveness of the delivery of legal services and it provides continuing education and professional development programs.

She resides in Toledo, Ohio with her husband, Ryan. On January 29, 2006 they welcomed the arrival of their first child, a daughter, Breann Grace. Christy and her husband spend their spare time with their daughter and are avid fans of the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Red Wings, as they follow their teams closely.
